This FJ has a Procomp 6" suspension lift, with 35x12.5's on 18"s. I'm told 20" wheels will fit with this lift...if that's the case, why not 37"'s (maybe with only 10.5 width) on the existing 18's? Obviously, all of the trimming to allow this has been done. Any opinions would be welcome. Especially in regards to gears. Thanks

If you want to start breaking stuff, go ahead. RunnerRyan has put 37's on his already and basically will tell you the same thing. There's no need for tires that big anyway.

i have seen fj cruisers that are as tall as me and im pretty sure that they had 37's or not. i also think that they might have had a 3 inch body lift because the tacomas have to have nine inches to fit 37's

Do they even make body lifts for the FJ's?

what fits

20 inch wheels? heck 35 inch wheels would fit without tires. My street wheels are 22"s american racing trench but i have to run spacers on the front because the backspacing is 6" I have 1.5 on and just bought 2" to try as soon as the weather gets better because I still rub the sway bar. My tires are 325 50 22 and I think I should have gone with my original choice 285 55 22, Might rub alittle less and not so much wander around following the cracks in the road. Guys at the tire store gave me the bigger ones for the same price and I thought oh ya bigger....
not much sidewall for airing down, I ran 15 at Pismo and did well but I wanted the wagon wheel look, but damn the rotors look tiny.
Power is down with the bigger tires but thats a good reason for the TRD or URD supercharger, I'm leaning toward the TRD for the lower end grunt, top end stuff and my lack of proper application has = less than desirable outcomes.

That's way too much tire for an independent front end...especially one of small SUV integrity.

I was told thousands of times that putting 39s on my truck would break everything and never work.

Then I did it.

Its my DD, and wheeled regularly.

who knows

There is if you want to do any real wheeling.

Problem is if he does any real wheelin' with IFS and 35s its a matter of time before he grenades a cv, I think.

Great testament to the strength of the 80s. Wow, cool makes me feel better about my 35" tires. Looks like there isnt much room for wheel travel?

If mistreated 35's grenade even solid axles (birfields), in stock form.

I'm sure there are companies working on upgraded CV's and shafts which are an booted Birfield.

I'm sure you are right. That's why I stick to solid axles.

I would say that minus all that has been said with the wear issue. You could use the Total Chaos fenders and get away with it. I agree with everyoe though its gonna get exspensive in parts and wear. I personally know 3 people with 35's on just a 3" lift and none have had any problems w/ anything other than a minor rub wich was fixed by chopping the body mount.
