Why won’t this bumper fit on a 2011 LC?

I’m just curious as to why a 2012 and up bumper won’t fit on a 2011 LC.
I’ve heard some say “because of the cuts to the plastic bumper”
What exactly does that mean?

Example:

All of these type of bumpers require trimming the fascia. The model year differences are due to addition of parking sensors and changes in headlight shape.

Okay so the bumper will mount up(without the bumper skin on) and after making the cuts to the skin it will fit without looking odd?

THat is Not what I said.

It is not made for the 2011 as it has a different bumper skin.
You would need to cut your 2011 skin and see if you like it or not, and the template is for a 2012 not a 2011.

Example I put a 2015 rear bumper on my 2016. It didn't look right because of the difference in reflector placement on the skins. So then I put a 2015 skin (painted to match) on my 2016 and then it fit nice. - They didn't have a 2016 rear bumper at the time and it was going to be years before they did.

Alright. Let me ask in a different way:
Do you know if the metal bumper itself is the same?
…and the only difference between the 2011 and 2013 kits is that the template provided to cut the front (plastic) bumper is different?

No. The 2012 Bumper is made to match the 2012 Bumper skin. It will bolt up but it's made to match the 2012 skin.
A 2011 bumper is different and made to match the 2011 skin.
