It's the 4th weekend and it's raining here so The LAKE looks out of the question... I could go home and THINK about finishing the LC or stay in my shop until midnight and get something done...
NOTES:
I kept looking at the intake & and thinking except for the throttle body these are the same early with the cable throttle control vs fly by wire... seems they are so i used the donor intake and my throttle body... this little bit of info could save someone a couple hours of time if they were swapn a later engine into a early LC.... in my case it was easier to swap my TB on the newer manifold vs swap'n the newer injectors onto mine... I did have to swap the top TB mounting studs but that was the only difference... plus the one from the 4runner is all clean and pretty...

Discovered that the original water pump to this donor engine might have been leaking a bit, other than that every thing looked good

a few pictures of how I do a timing belt
and a few of the ready to install engine with all the harness and mounts swapped... I'll put in new 02 sensors this afternoon and drop it into the LC could be running tonight...

Sorry for the double pictures, but you can see how i do timing belts... the vice grips have very little pressure but hold things in place... with the plugs removed before i remove the OLD belt I line up the cam marks by turning the engine using a socket on the cam bolt... once that is done it's pretty simple... I did NOT replace the seals... just the water pump, the pulleys, the belt... i reused the tensioner... embarrassed to say I use the cheap kit off ebay $97
