Why does my LX upshift 1-2 at WOT at only 4900-5000RPM

Runs great no CEL, great condition. It holds to redline in every other gear, at least second and third which is what confuses me.

There is a noticeable power boost up to the hp peak which I think is around 5600 which I really don't like missing out on under WOT especially at city traffic speeds.

Anyone else ever hear of this?

Your LX is granny shifting so as to not spin the earth out of orbit with its massive powwwwa.
Lol I'm not worried about it but I would like that extra 1000RPM from a 1-2 shift at WOT.

If you have an ECT switch, have you tried setting it to "Power" ?

Oh yeah, I leave it in power. I love how aggressive the transmission responsiveness is and short gearing, would never want the 8 speed.

Try shifting in manual mode, be sure to double clutch!

I don’t think you’re missing out on anything. The computers also sense load and at 5000 rpm in first gear, the engine has so much power it’s actually better to shift and give it something to do.

I did think of that, I was wondering if it knocks it back to the torque peak which is about 3600 I think... that would make sense.
