hey guys im new to this site i jsut signed up but i ahve had my landcruiser for about 2 years. i am in the central texas area (Waco) i was wondering if i am alone in this area???? ne1 in dallas or austin???? i a looking into mean green alternators to give my car more power, r there any better suggestions???? any input would help. my exterior lights take all the power..... thnx

there are 4 TX club forums on the site......scroll down and post !

I love the extra acceleration that a bigger alternator gives you.

Plus towing is a breeze now!!!

:flipoff2:

shout out from San Antonio here....

i have a mean green on my 60. it gives me much more power. i don't have any type of dual battery set up etc. hindsight i would now go with a cheaper one, but i have no complaints about its performance.

Don't listen to Paddy - His alt is the only thing that works on his rig. :D

And I have to disagree with Mace...the alt may make it go faster/tow better, but it isn't nearly as effective as racing stripes or a snorkel (laughing at myself on that one).

hey i got a rebuilt alternator put in my baby about 6 months ago after that p.o.s. went out. the new 1 still just doesnt give me enough power for my exterior lights, so confused....what to do.....

Read that first thread I posted up. Lots of good info there. Clean up your grounds, check your wiring and fusable links, etc...it's a lot of work, but it's basically free and can turn it around.

First, I'm not from texas so I'm a bit out of my element on this thread.

The stock alternator ran everything fine off the show room floor and can run a normal truck fine. I bet all your problems are related to corroded connections and old wires. The threads that Swank attached are the ones to follow.

Best of luck !!!

If you are looking for a more powerful alt, try premiere you don't need the welder but it can be added at a later date and you already have the heavy duty alt just waiting to be used with an under the hood arc welder :) :)

I'm in Round Rock, a little bit north of Austin. I had a local alternator shop rebuild my OEM alternator and rewire for some more juice. Worked out great!
