Just ordered my sliders a couple weeks ago! Pretty excited and will hopefully have them around Christmas. Check back here for the pictures because I'll be posting some. I may even do a writeup if there are any tricks to bolting them on around the AHC components. Of course I do have a welder if things get tricky. I've included a shot that I had available of the LX to get this thread started!

As a side note, I decided to purchase my white knuckle offroad sliders from John after researching and looking at all the various companies producing sliders for the 100. I like the ones with the kickout in the rear because it's functional as a larger step and it prevents the rear end from taking a hit from a tree in tighter quarters. I liked the original design by whiteknuckle better than the current version, but decided to stick with John after reading what Metal Tech has been up to the last couple years. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it seems that Mark Hawley of MetalTech LLC and his counsel are bullying a few of the slider manufacturers with trademark infringement litigation.

There are a number of differences in the way those sliders in question are made and whiteknuckles original build looked to be superior from an engineering, aesthetic, and quality control perspective as far as I'm concerned. In my opinion, Metaltech should not have been issued the mark as there are some pretty questionable arguments they brought forth in their application. They even went to the extent to create evidence during their application process by asking for IH8mud.com user comments to support their claims under the guise of a poll question. I'll reserve the rest of my opinion on the matter because it's long and detailed and this is not the proper forum for it. I will say this though, Metal Tech lost my business because of the way they chose to conduct theirs.

And just for the record. I have no afiliation with John or whiteknuckle offroad. I do however, have a very large distaste for those who use the legal system in a manner adverse to the spirit and intent of the laws and systems in place. :flipoff2:

Cool, you finally found something to park next to that gets worse fuel mileage than the 100. :D

My bolt on sliders tend to slide up from time to time and I can't tighten them down any further without bending the metal. There is definitely room for improvement since many others seem to have the same problem. I thought about shimming the U-bolt on the bottom side once the correct height was determined. Yeah, I think I'll get that patented. ;)

or you could break out the welder. I have had mine creep back very slightly a time or two. I plan to have mine welded on and the third arm added when the AHC comes off and the LX spends some time at IPOR.

I would be very interested to hear the details as I have a Cyber Monday Deal pending order of sliders with Metal-Tech (Building starts tomorrow according to person on the phone...) and would like to make a fair choice of manufacturer... (thought Metal-Tech was one of the best...)

Ha. Gas mileage is way better and I may have even been known to pull a few Gs while turning a corner depending on who you ask. Yeah, the gate was open and I just had to jump out and take a pic with that in the background.

I expect I'll be lifting the truck from these sliders every once in a while. May not get much force from the bottom otherwise. More from side deflections. I'll pay closer attention now that you mention it and see what I can come up with if it happens.

Well, that's all I'm going to say about it here. I've given my opinions after doing research on my own. I invite you to do the same as most things are available to look at online so long as they're not deleted.

I'm referencing John's old design versus his current one. He makes a convoluted bend to create the kickout in the current design rather than sticking with his original design which resulted from two simple bends and a weld. If I were creating this slider myself, that's how I would do it because it's the result of the simplest way to manufacture it. Same reason a wheel is round instead of square.

Anyway, I'm not talking about AHC vs standard suspension attachment differences. If I made it sound like he came out with something new, that's not the case.

What's new about these White Knuckle Sliders? I'm confused. John's had AHC compatible ones for awhile now.

sliders in the mail

:) Yes. This thread is about the sliders that I'll have sitting in my garage someday soon.

I've got thoughts of stripping the lights off of the old running boards and mounting them somehow to give the LX back that cool factor when you open the doors. We'll see how that turns out though. I'll probably give the christmas lights I've got hanging on the LX a shameless plug as well.

I helped test the LX version of White Knuckle sliders as I had the second pair I believe.....there are no tricks other than to make damn sure you dont clamp OVER the high pressure lines for AHC, brakes, or even your fuel lines....and line everything up good. You can see them in my build thread...

The ONLY difference really between LX and LC sliders is the LX only has two support arms on driver side because of the components on frame rail underneath being in the way.

I used jackstands to help hold up until I could bolt in place. Solid as a rock.

Dont put non-slip tape on them like you would for skateboard or slipper steps if you ever wear shorts or your wife rides with you. Enough scrapes on back of my calf from FJC taught me that lesson.

Do these still allow for fitment of factory front mud flaps?

if you adjust them back a little bit from front....and put on factory mudflaps you might need to notch them slightly but not much at least on LX from what I remember. I have the part numbers but never ordered mine but from what I remember I could do it and would not have to cut holes in them or notch them ....just slide the sliders back a bit to make clearance. someone has done LX with sliders....as the LX are different than LC for mudflaps as well.

I would like to see how that looks if there's a picture somewhere. I'm not a wheeler but I drive off road and I would like sliders and to keep the mud flaps on my Cruiser.

I put a set on my truck last month and I don't think I would have room for any mudflaps on mine. I have them pushed back far enough to clear my 315's and they stretch from the back edge of the front wheel opening into the rear opening. I like that they protect all of my rocker panel but they couldn't be any longer than they are.
