Hi All,
Getting reacquainted with my 08 LC after being abroad for a couple of years. A friend took care of it for me to keep it running while gone...

One thing I've noticed (now that I put on quieter tires) is that I hear a whine while going slow and coming to a stop on the road. At first, it sounded like tire noise but I shifted into N and the noise went away. I would also describe it as a quiet version of what I hear when in 4Lo (loud whine).

Any ideas on what this could be? Should I be concerned?
I've done all PM work with oil changes for Diff, etc. Currently have 167K miles.
Thanks

I got a new to me 2015 200 after after having a 2013 for years. Did a lot of work on the new one as far as transferring all the mods and even the transmission/t-case and differentials (wanted to keep my 4.88s). I notice a distance whine/whir almost whistle when I take my foot off the gas and coast. Never noticed this on the 2013. Its definitely drive train related as it goes away with just a little constant gas pedal (does not seem rpm related) or acceleration. I don't know what it is or if its a problem. I'm curious to see what others say here.

The only thing I can think of (assuming fresh oil in the diffs, t-case, and tranny) is to make sure the u-joints are greased. If may be just you getting used to the noises, but when it goes away by unloading the drivetrain it might be something from the transmission to the diffs.

Mine goes away when I LOAD the drive train. Fluids are relatively fresh. Tranny's got about 50K on the fluid and was a new Toyota rebuilt 50K ago. I also just greased the drive shafts and spiders. No difference. I think its just me getting used to a new vehicle noise except that the parts that seem to be making the noise are from my old truck.
