That sheetmetal part that deflects exhaust gas from hitting the intake manifold directly.....should the curved part point up or down?

It goes up..

It fits the only way in which it conforms to the shape of the manifold on the firewall side.

no, i am talking about the ~3"x4" sheetmetal baffle that goes between the intake and exhaust manifolds. It deflects exhaust gas from hitting the heat riser directly. GLTH, I am not sure what you mean. The baffle will fit either way as far as I can see

It can't go on but one way and operate properly... set it on and rotate the butterfly and observe..

This is exactly the question I came on here today to answer. That makes sense and when I'm ready to put new pieces back together, I'll remember this.

Thanks

Perfect! That picture helps a lot.

When I had my Manifold "planed", I didn't get a chance to see how it was installed. They had to rip the old one off. I got a new one now.

Thanks!
