Which V6? (1 Viewer)

Here are some pics of what I am starting with.

As you can see there it has a 2 door body and nothing after it. I am cutting the top off.

At the round up, I liked how Ed's Rock Taxi was set up. So I want to build mine like his.

So here is what I'm thinking:

4.3l with fuel injection
700R4
NP203
NP205
D60 front and back
4 link in back
2 link w/ hardpan in front
FJ60 steering w/ ram assist

So I plan on chopping off the front at the bib and building a recessed winch behind the bib.

Any suggestions on a chevy v6?

ease of wiring: TBI....rumored to also have a slightly better torque curve too....

TPI would be a close 2nd choice....

IMO, start shopping for a Astro van from the late 80's, early 90's, and snag the whole thing for the motor and 700R....probably set ya back $500-less.

I have a Painless harness for the 95 era 4.3 Vortec CPI engine if you decide on this route

Let it go lots cheaper than the going price, new.

I love the '93 cpi vortec we put in the Chics Jeep. A little less torque than the TBI that woody speeks of but with the doubler it wouldn't matter to you. the advantage is the W motor vortecs have a valve that changes the intake from dual plane to single plane so you get a much better windup.

On a side note get the painless wiring harness, a friend used the Howell and it requires a ECU change so that it doesn't pull a code not seeing the 4L60E trans that came behind these motors. I have the 4l60E the only drawback of these is the slow engaugement from forward to reverse. but there is a kit to fix this also.

The 4.3 is a great motor. Basically 3/4 of a 350.
