Which truck? Is the 5 speed tranny worth it?

I've been driving every Land Cruiser I can find to figure out what's important to me and I'm a little stuck between these two. This will be mostly a daily driver with light wheeling sometimes.

’99 200k miles, Rear locker, 2.5” lift, $11k

’03 260k miles, nav, $11k

I consider everything else about even. They are both really clean with intact interiors and no leaks. The '99 has a little better service history.

I read a lot of people saying to get the 5-speed, but is it worth taking on the additional miles and paying extra for a lift kit I'll want?

I think that would depend upon service history, which I assume you've already checked. ;)

Me personally would pick the rear locker instead of Nav.
Just my opinion.

tough choice, I prefer newer when possible, but 60K more miles???
The newer one will be smoother for day-to-day driving. they will both wheel "light" very well.

I agree with @re_guderian . Seems like a little pricey for the miles on each.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Those were their posted prices, no haggling yet. How much lower do you think they should be for those miles?

The 4-speed works just fine - but from all accounts the 5-speed is noticeably better. Miles pretty much mean nothing when you're in that ballpark - its going to be all about condition and maintenance history.

Personally, I'd go 99. Locker and ability to upgrade the stereo mean more to me than the extra gear.

On both, prices are out of line.

Based on a ton of searching I've done over the last few months, I'd opine that both should be <$10K, due to mileage. I'd suggest checking value on either KBB or NADA and go from there. Prior to finding the '11 LX that I will purchase, I had about every used car web page open on my web browser and I checked them 2 or 3 times a day. I also checked the classifieds here.

If both were about 3k cheaper I would say it's a tough call. Since they're not, I would say keep looking. Good luck with your search.

Another opinion of the prices being too high. I am also in the market, closely monitoring CL, Cars and Autotrader and these are way overpriced compared to others of similar mileage I have seen. Definitely room for them to come down.

I guess they're all just overpriced in my area? I'm in the Southwest, zero rust on these. There is nothing priced like that one in KY.

I checked out a few 80s series that either had destroyed interiors, check engine lights, questionable service/ leaking and they were $3k-$8k. Nicer 80s were asking 8-10.

There are only a few LC/LX for sale at one time, and most people who try to sell it, will ask for premium price, even when the car is not in good condition. Its supply and demand.

I am not saying that this LC in KY is in good condition or not. Inside and outside looks good in the picture, but there is no picture of underneath the car. If you want a good deal, you may need to be patience, and broaden your search to cover other states too.

Good luck!

Those cruisers are 1-2k cheaper than the NW from what I have seen posted with similar miles ('04, 235k, $13.5: '02, 193k, $13k) etc.
