I had to cut out my wheel wells when I flipped my springs and I am going to cut out and weld in new wheel wells. I only have a flux core welder and my stick welder. Going to go with the arc. I'm not familiar with all the rod types/#s. What rod should I get to weld up 10ga sheet (butt together)? I will make temporary brackets to hold everything in place while I weld the sections together, then grind them out. Also what AMP should I set the welder to? I'm decient with making beads and fabricated mounts/cut turned my front 60 series axle and that takes less of a delicate hand but don't weld enough to know about the thin stuff off hand. Thanks.

Welding thinner stuff with a stick welder is not ideal, but you'll probably have the best luck using a 3/32" 6013 electrode at around 70 amps ish. 6013 doesn't have the best penetration, so you'll probably be less likely to burn through. Just my $.02, I'm not a pro welder or anything...

Thanks. I'm not a pro welder either. I will try that rod. Worst case is I have deal with my little flux core 110. Just very messy and crap beads.

use wire feed for sheet metal, you will find it very difficult to arc weld sheet. Buy good wire stay away from harbor freight or Osh l have had good luck with Lincoln's wire

If your FC welder has the option for running gas, get a bottle of gas and run it as MIG. You'll get better welds, and have to do less cleanup.
