Anybody have some recommendations for a good machine shop in the area with reasonable prices? HG blew on my '96 LC. I'll be starting the tear-down shortly and will need a good shop that knows Toyotas. Will need to have the head checked and tested, re-surfaced if needed, valve adjustment, etc.

Thanks!

These guys did a good job during my engine rebuild, including everything you mentioned plus boring and surfacing the block:

Del's Auto Parts & Machine
1781 Woolley Way, Sacramento, CA 95815
(916) 922-1556

Robbie also used them for a couple other customer's trucks and was happy with the work they did.

Hope it helps.

I think there is a guy in Stockton/Modesto that everyone swears by as the Land cruiser master. Not sure of the guys name, but I saw it on Mud.

orangefj45 ( the famous George from stockton.) hes the one putting on the valley hybrids stockton swap meet in april.

I used dels after talking to DJ and Robbie- couldn't be happier with service and work.

I've also heard great things about dels - I was really pleased with Mike Parrish too

Thanks guys! I haven't made any phone calls yet, but would you guys know a ballpark estimate of what I'd be looking to spend? Standard testing, cleaning of the head, re-surface if needed, install new valves seals (I will provide), etc.

I'll look around for my invoice but I think I was around 500 for the things you describe at Parrish in January

Ok, made some phone calls today to get some ballpark estimates. Looks like I'll be going with Parrish Automotive! To get the head cleaned, tested, re-surfaced if needed and a full valve adjustment along with replacing the valve seals (I'll provide), I'm looking right under $500.

At Del's the same job would run close to $800 according to the person I spoke to on the phone. That's a BIG price difference!!!!
