Which hitch setup is better? (1 Viewer)

Ive noticed when towing light trailers with a 2" ball they cluck and clank when at slow speeds or rough terrain.

Would a pintle hitch or max coupler give it more 'wiggle room' to move therefore making it a little quieter?

Apologies if this is a noob question, but im just getting into the trailer scene!

Seriously though, ive read through pages and pages and i think the max coupler is the way to go .... that is of course .... when i have a spare $225 just sitting around collecting dust!!!

I only used the Max Coupler for one trip, but I'm sold...awesome PC. Of hardware!

I'm very satisfied with my lunette and pintle. If you're trying to avoid the clunk its not the best though. First few times I heard the clunk I was checking in the mirror to see if the trailer was still hooked up... Kinda used to in now.

I've found that the majority of the clunk involved with trailoring, regardless of hitch type, is the 2 inch sleeve of the receiver itself. A friend of mine hated his so badly, he welded it in.

They should come with shims.

I guess I have had good luck, I have never heard the clunking sound of a 2" ball and coupler. Having towed trailers for 20 years I can never remember clunks! Then again I have never seriously off roaded with a trailer either. Just dirt roads, and access points to the river. Only bad sounds I have ever heard was when I put a 2" hitch on a 1 7/8 ball.
