Barry-Buy the Toyota OEM one. There has been nothing but bad reports about aftermarket fan clutches. They last 150k miles, buy one and be done for the rest of your life.

Asking again, but... where's the best place to get an OEM? $200 I got from the Toyota dealer vs. $65 from Advance is a tough decision, even given the reliability issues.

Well-From Cruiserdan of course at American Toyota. He gives a standard IH8MUD discount and will chat with you about Land Cruiser and life. Highly reccomended.

Don't quote me but I think my fan clutch was $125 or so from Cruiserdan. If you buy a $65 one from advance auto, don't come crying here when you overheat.

I've been using an inexpensive aftermarket one and have never overheated. Still, it runs slightly above middle on the guage. I understand it should be slightly below. I'm assuming its the FC. I've replaced the thermostat with a Toyota.

i bought one from JT outfitters and havent had any probs. fast turnaround and same oem quality

Mine failed when I first purchased my cruiser. Didn't know better, put in a generic aftermarket one. It failed (seized) in 15,000 miles. Replaced with OEM from CDan. Cruiserdrew price est seems right to me. The diffference in weight and quality between OEM and my aftermarket fan clutch was amazing. The OEM f/c was heavier, beefier in everyway, better castings, nicer bolts, etc. I didn't take it apart of course, but with the better outside quality, you gotta know the inside is also better. 2X the weight.

Go OEM if at all possible.

Can anyone tell me if the JToutfitter fan clutches are the the same as the ones purchased directly from Toyota?

I just re-read your original post...I recommend you ask JT who makes their fan clutch.

My stocker failed at 203K miles. I went the cheap route and replaced it with a unit from Autozone. I have had ZERO problems with it and my temp gauge never comes over 1/3 even in 100 degree Nebraska summers. It has a lifetime warranty and cost me only $59. I can replace it 3 times for what OEM would have cost.

I go OEM with my tuneup parts and other things, using CruiserDan of course, but I have had no probs with the aftermarket fan clutch.

thanks for all the replies. looks like I'll be calling C-Dan. Anyone have his # off the top?
There's a thread in the vendor section with info on how to get ahold of him.
