I need to be in Nashville on Thursday July 16th. I figured New Jersey to Knoxville is far enough for 1 day of driving, so i plan to get a room on Wednesday night and thwn continue onto Nashville Thursday morning. What hotels, parts of town would you guys recommend I book a room at? I will be traveling with with my wife, son, brother and mum.

Cheers,
Morgan

Morgan, I would suggest somewhere around I-40 and Cedar Bluff area. There should be some good hotels right off of the interstate. From there it's about four hours or less to Nashville.

I can vouch for the Campbell Station exit. There are several nice hotels. Restaurants are nice. Lake is close by if you want to get away from interstate travel.

It you could stay downtown and enjoy market square for dinner or perhaps Calhoun's on the river. Campbell Station and Cedar Bluff are just like every other exit off I40; strip malls and chain restrurants. Snooze alert.

Never stayed personally, but if its a Hilton down there then I am sure its fine. The market square area has a hispter feel to it now, but its at least local and not full of Applebees and Burger Kings.

The Hilton is alright for the most part. You will have to deal with the homeless but they aren't too bad. That area is also home for the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, University of Tennessee football stadium, and the river front.

Mmm..you guys make it sound like a splendid destination. Hipsters, bums and women's basketbal...dream vacation right there ;)

Stay at Shawn's house. He's got a great setup and we can all "Strap it on".

Crown Plaza is right beside Market Square, nice place. Never stayed there but we go there for the Christmas buffet every year and it looks nice.

@mryanangel if you are in Nashville for an extended period, perhaps a frosty beverage could be shared somewhere convenient for you. Let me know and maybe we can work something out. If not, no worries, just want to make you welcome.
