I'm not sure if there are more than 1 type of snorkel - but I was wondering if there are any places to buy one in AZ, or if they have to be ordered, who has the best price?

arb is the way to go. there are several internet dealers that sell them

Must be planning on going through some dang deep water.

Nah...probably not for a while anyways. I just finally got my better half to give me permission to get one.........and if I don't get it soon, she'll change her mind!

If she changes her mind after I have it installed, I have the excuse that there's already a big hole in the fender.

I'm just giving you some crap. I can't imagine a situation where I'd be up to the tops of my doors in water and still driving deeper. The engine intake is well placed, I can't believe anyone actually utilizes a snorkel on these rigs. They do look cool, though.

Are the "ARB" and "Safari" snorkels actually different units?

No...they are the same. ARB distributes Safari.

In AZ, not many places, but in UT and CO, I've more than once wished I would have had one. There is a river that flows into the Great Sands Dunes that can be quite a bugger to cross. Water is consistently over the hood and splashing the windshield when crossing.

Imogene Pass same thing and a number of other smaller water flows in remote Utah.

I got to recommend supporting the guy that has taken care of us in the past, call Kurt @ www.cruiseroutfitters.com tell him your a CSC member and he will give you the best price he can. Great guy to do biz with!

It will ship from Seattle, if you want to save some $$ on freight, post up that you are ordering from ARB, you may get a couple of others that "need" stuff from them, if its shipped together you can split the freight.

I hate to say it, but you "need" a lift much more than you "need" a snorkle!:hillbilly

Not to add salt to the wound...but I am with Kevin on this...Lift was the first mod to mine, then bigger tires. Don't take it personal Cody...but I was benind you in my Taco on the last run and you were hanging low.

Ahh, I do plan on getting a lift very soon. My birthday is 2/28, so I can pass off some of the big purchases as "birthday presents".

The thing with the lift, is that it's like 2 or 3 purchases and I'd like to get them all at the same time for one install. Tires, Rims, lift kit.

While I could fit 33-35+ stock, I don't want the truck to look odd before a lift, or damage the tires or truck with rubbing early.

On the same note, I don't want to lift the truck 3-6" and be running stock tires for a little while.

The snorkel really is a "bling" mod...I don't ever expect to be in over the hood water, nor would I want to be, even with the snorkel.

If anyone is selling a lift or set of wheels at a nice price, I may be persuaded to change the order of purchase/installs, so let me know if any deals are available.

No persuasion should be needed on this one. Buy the lift... do the install when you're ready to do the wheels and tires. The last thing on your mind right now along the lines of mods, should be a snorkel. I'm not saying that you shouldn't get one...eventually, but lift and tires should always be #1 on the list.

That said, buy from Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters.

Stock truck on 315s, 35".

Why do you "need" rims? The stock rims are high quality forged units, you would spend a fortune getting the same or better quality aftermarket and bling wheels are just going to get beat up wheeling.

Good point on the wheels Kevin.

I lifted my truck and still have the stock tires and wheels, been running that way for over a year now. Yeah i dont have the same traction these guys have but i know for a fact i wouldnt be wheeling with them with out at least a 2.5 lift. BTW when ever i went to the sonic meets my truck with the 2.5 and stock tires was the smallest 80 there. The cruiser doesnt look that bad with stock wheels and tires and a lift. If you do plan on getting new wheels though let me know what you want for them lx450 wheels.

D'oh!

I just typed a somewhat lengthy explanation but the computer lost it all before it posted!

Anyways...I was just saying that I plan to buy the lift, wheels/tires, and snorkel all within 1 month's time. I can get the snorkel now, and then a lift, and I've been browsing ebay and craigslist for some already mounted wheels/tires to save a few bucks.

I want another set of rims just for the offroad tires, so I can swap between sets when I need them easily.

Then, after I get that all setup, I get to come up with excuses as to why I need the deluxe ARB bumper, sliders, roof rack, fog lights, etc...

The only thing to which I'd comment about the extra wheels is do realize that the 95+ 80 series' don't have conical lug nuts whilst most aftermarket wheels do. At the risk of stating the obvious, ensure you get the right lug nuts on those secondary wheels.

Now, that said, I may have some Toyota steel 16x7s (conical :-) for sale here shortly... ;)

Ah man let the kid have his Snorkel :)

Here is your reason for the Arb front bumper - Safety - the ARB is designed to repel all large animals - I know for a fact CW has cows and deer in the roads ;) Keep you loved ones safe!
