I can mount on the front bull bar or the roof rack.

Which is best?

Bull Bar?

or roof rack?

I think from a transmission/reception perspective, you want the most 'ground plane' (if my long ago installation memory serves), so the roof would be better.

I was thinking that also .. but I can't seem to find a black antenna holder that allows the antenna to fold down, (for garage entry).

I found some chrome antenna holders that boats use, but no black ones.,

Frontrunner has a black fold down antenna mount. Not sure if it can be modified to work on a non Frontrunner rack.

You are asking about a CB antenna. Rhino Rack makes a fold down antenna mount for such an antenna. It is pricey at over $ 80.00.

Go to your local truck stop and you can find a quick detachable antenna mount.

Be sure to set the SWR so you get the best performance out of your radio/antenna match.

This is not a cb-antenna.

This is one of those 4G Boost antennas and it looks like a short broom stick, 2.5' high and about 1" thick.

So it needs about a 3/4" hole on a flat plate that can fold down.

I'll post a pic soon.

OK the picture you posted looked like a CB antenna . A 3/4 hole is called a NMO mount.

It's not really an NMO as the wire it hard wired to the antenna.

Here is a picture of it with a measure tape.

Well this is going on the front bumper .. until I can find some kind of fold down antenna mount.

Thanks

Bull bar or off road front bumper. If you go for bull bar make sure you get one that has more than two attach points. Westin or other crap only attach from the bottom. Causes a lot of vibration and as well any small accident this stuff will cause more damage. Get something like I have (picture). It is Toyota brand from Australia. It attaches in four points and have mounting places for lights and antennas.

I'd buy the Rhino Rack mount from Amazon and see if it will work. Perhaps you will have to drill it out.

If after eyeballing it and it wont work just send it back.
