Hey all,

Was wondering where everyone got there metal from around here for welding projects. I am familiar with Potomac Steel in Springfield, VA but they seemed a bit pricey.

Are there also any scrap yards that sell metals?

Also, Any good stores for welding supplies?

Thanks.

Welding supplies I get from Roberts Oxygen on Redland Rd. in Rockville/ Derwood. For metal I have been hacking up an old 40 that I have or going to Mongomery Scrap on Southlawn Dr. in Rockville. Standard Supplies in Gaithersburg also sells sheets. Hope this helps.

welding supplies Arcet, Euclid Ave Manassas Park

metal Arlington Iron Works, Euclid Ave Manassas

scrap, anything I can scrounge from the iron workers on the job
( most of the time too large for what I need )

Tom I could use some I beam to build a frame for my plate press brake

To ad to this post Arcet is great and BandR welding in md is good. Roberts is not so great.

There is a great steel supplier in capital heights called Posner Industries.

12". i want to make some brackets for the rear disk brakes on my 40. If you got a beam, we can cut it out the pieces. If I can get the metal for free, i was going to try my hand at making them for the fun of it. otherwise, i will just buy them online.
