I want to get a 3F head, shave it down and port it. Then have my 2F intake manifold matched as best as possible. Put in a 260 cam and call it good with my MAF headers. Should work right.

In this country, the most common place to source for a 3F head is off a 85-87 2F engine. If you can't find one of them, then a new one can be ordered from the dealer. All 81-87 2F service heads are 3F.

ok then I have one already. Thats is funny!

Thanks Jim

next question, who is the best to rework and shave a head? by rework, I mean to install larger valves port and polish?

I've heard there's a guy in Ohio who does that kind of work. Nothing but Land Cruiser performance.

Name of the shop is "TLC Performance" or something like that. ;)
PM me for more info.

sweet, i will

I also have a 2f head that neds to rebuilt sometime. I mentioned to a friend that I was thinking of having the ports polished and his response was that polishing only becomes effective at higher revs. My 2f doesn't usually get reved real high so I am rethinking this strategy. Does he know what he talking about?

Piggybacking on Sportbiker's '?' Jim - So the EFI manifold will bolt onto the 85-87 head?
NO, They are talking 3F you are talking 3FE. Very different.

I got the 3F headers from SOR cheap, like around $75 with gaskets from CDan

No, he has not looked closely at a 2F head. When the factory machines for the hardened seats, there is a mess of steps and corners left behind, all in the vicinity of the valve seat. Even at moderate lift, these ugly spots are disturbing the airflow past the valve. At full lift, the ugly stuff is a genuine restriction.
