WHen will troopies (I mean HZJ7's) be coming to Canada?

Ok, when will the HZJ/HDJ Troopie series be coming into Canada. I'd love to have one of those to pull a BJ-74 with to the trail heads!!!

Toyota didn't put factory turbo's in the troopie until the early 2000's, you gotta a ways to go.

The earliest an HZJ75 can come to Canada under the 15-yr law should be this year, I believe the first 1HZ-powered HZJ75s were 1990 model. It will be tough finding them in decent shape outside of the JDM, very few people around the world bought one of these warthogs for any purpose other than serious work.

The latest 4x4 Australia has a SWEET article on the 2005 HZJ79 troopie/trayback, very cool.

A couple of issues ago Australia 4WD Monthly had the funniest article, it was a towing comparo between a Ford F250 and a Land Cruiser troopie, and (the testing taking place in Australia), the troopie won!

Anyway I can ask you for a scan? That is great seeing that the F250 has everything going for it, wheelbase, engine output and weight. What troopie was it, an HDJ78? Was the F250 a diesel or petrol?

I don't have a scanner at home, but I'll try to scan it at work (just slipped the issue, May 05, into my laptop case). The article doesn't make any qualms about the Ford handling the tow better and having better ratings, but the Ford F250 is AU$23,600+ more than the troopie, which the magazine points out as giving you a sizable budget for mods.

Exiled, Off topic but re the May 2005 Australian 4WD monthly. I have the june issue with a really nice looking 100 series on the front. They call it the "Camel 'Cruiser" and mention that they picked it up for $26K and spent another $27K on mods. They way the atricle is written it is as if it was written about in previous issues and I'm wondering if you can tell me if it is in the May issue and I will see about trying to get a back issue.

HZJ 60, just a daft idea, but if you can find any literature about thoses brand new hzj in a toyota dealership in canada, you might just be able to make them import and register one for you, whatever it takes for them to register it. I mean you would be able to fill in a case for denial of sale, which in pretty much any western country would cost them far too much to try to avoid. They would then import and register one for you.

they are sold new in Canada for OFF ROAD USE ONLY............not gonna make them do anything.....

Yeah, that was a VERY COOL buildup, although they spent a ton of cash on that HZJ105, something like half the project money on the truck itself, the other half on the accessories. It is indeed the May 2005 issue that has the first part of the project.

There are essentially no 75 series LCs in Japan.
