I paypal'd money to a vendor on 'Mud 2 weeks ago yesterday for some parts he pulled from a vehicle he is parting. He received the money that day, and said the items would ship the following Monday.

Along about Thursday or so of the 1st week, I asked him via PM for shipping info. Nada.

Early this past week, I PM'd him again for an update. Nada.

I emailed him Thursday, nada.

I called Friday, nada.

The parts I bought are nothing critical, but considering I got him the money asap and he ack'd it and promised a ship date; then has ignored me, I am wondering how much longer I need to wait before calling him out and notifying PayPal?

(I wouldn't care if he at least said, hey we're swamped, it's the holidays, it'll ship in xx days - just acknowledge me.)

At this point, I would put a post on Mud for all to see "trying to locate" the vendor. Explain the lack of response and the whole shebang. That's my take. After that, and one last email, give him about 2 days to respond and contact PP.

My $.02

Tough call. It sure seems like you have been very patient and gone out of your way to make contact with the vendor. And, their lack of reply/response is absolutely irresponsible. If it were me, I'd leave a message again on all of your methods (PM, email, phone), notifying him that you have no other choice but get PayPal to reverse the charge and share your experience with the "public".

Sorry to hear stories like this, however, it seems to be a common business practice by too many of the on-line vendors...

I would try calling them one more time and tell them you're withdrawing the paypal if you don't hear from them by Monday. It's unfortunate that you have to do that but two weeks is unreasonable not to hear something.

Have you searched on Mud to see if anyone has had similar issues with them?

The vendor called me Saturday afternoon and told me the parts shipped last week, which is good news. I don't have a tracking number yet. This is encouraging.

I am in the same boat right now with this last Eshan group. The parts were signed for on the 8th here in the states, but have not heard anyhing since. This is for over a grand of stuff. Not cool at all.

Good to hear

Wow that really sucks!

Dang, that stinks.

I'm helping a mudder in OR right now as a matter of fact. He needed a 3rd out of a 4runner, button and computer box. i went and pulled it, but have had other things keeping me from actually shipping it. I will tomorrow though.

Just playing devil's advocate, but it is hard to get it done right away during the holidays. People travel, companies close down, weather, family in town, ect...

Totally agree, Alex. All I really wanted was some communication - it takes a minute or 2 to send a PM or email.

That being said, I received my item and am very happy. :)

I need to rant.

I am so f^%$%^*&ng sick and tired of vendors not providing any info after the sale!

Of course there are those who are superb at this - for example, Slee - and I will gladly pay a nominal premium to deal with the good vendors, to vote with my dollars.

But some of these folks - it's tough. It's awesome to have small shops doing interesting products etc, but if they 1) cannot ship within a reasonable time frame 2) bother to communicate with the customer on status 3) acknowledge anything, screw 'em.

This s*** is so old. It's not limited to the Cruiser world, but the percentage of small shops I've dealt with w/r/t Cruiser stuff who absolutely suck on the business/professional side is disheartening.

so it's time I start my little venture up, you're saying? I think I could manage the CS and professionalism side of things. It's just the startup fees I am pondering back and forth, I have starting pursuing though.

I have placed my first and last order w/ IPOR - criminy they won't acknowledge me now, but they sure ran the payment through fast. All I want to know is when the knuckle rebuild kit will ship (or if it has) and the shipping info.

Go ahead Greg and start your venture...............

I don't know that it's the case but some people can often get in over their heads, business gets to be good, so some owners go out and improve their location, equipment, and often some personal interests not taking into account the long term efffects. I hope this isn't the case with IPOR, Lance is a good guy and to my knowledge he has a pretty keen staff....this makes me want to think otherwise.

Sorry to hear about this guys, you would think in a time like now people would be jumping at business/sales opportunities, especially in a specialty market such as the 4x4 market, often in economic times like this it's the first "need to go" hobby/non-necessity for many.

Greg, I understand that. My point is: how much time and effort does it take to send an email that says "Your package shipped/is shipping on......"?

Conversely, I ordered a small product from Slee a few months ago. Two bolts were missing. I sent Slee an email and within an hour he called me and apologized and offered to overnight them. The question I asked via email was what are the specs on the bolts so I can find them locally? That he took the time to call and offer to ship them, on a product that cost less than $100, is yet more evidence that he gets it. And he has me as a Customer, to get that service on top of the whole buying experience from him means when I can spend $1000 on something, I'll call Slee.

Jon, I saw one of the IPOR guys online last night posting so I PM'd him about this and got a PM back. It sux they aren't responding to you...............

Thanks - they returned my email I sent last night and I actually got to talk to them this morning. Sounds like I'll email vs. call from now on.

There aren't many things that piss me off more than lack of communication. Like in your situation if I knew something was going to take a year to ship then that's ok, but being in the dark about something and being non-responsive is extremely frustrating.

Glad you were able to get in touch with them...now let's rebuild that axle!

O, he acknowledged the PM and promised to follow up this morning, but still nothing.

Just asking for shipping info really isn't too much is it? It's not like I said, I need the package tomorrow.

I had the same thing happen to me last October! I even ordered the same thing as you (the rebuild kit|). The guy on the phone said he had it in stock and the part would ship that day. 7 days later and still no parts after calling and calling which nobody would answer. The owner finally called and said that they had lost my order and he would get it shipped out that day. He was very nice but I still will not order from them again. I tried to post on mud about them but the vendor must have some heavy support becuase my thread was deleted within about an hour!! If you say something bad about them you will have your post deleted! I even got a PM from another member that had the samething happen to him.
