I'm putting together a fall drive, day run. Probably on Sun Sept. 29th.
I'm thinking about getting an early start, heading east over Wolf Creek VIA Elwood pass, then over to Creede for lunch, and over Stony pass to Silverton and back. I'm open to other suggestions as well.

I'll let u know if the date changes. Depends on how many can make the 29th.

Based on my work schedule I will be a last minute decision but most likely out.

We could do it this Sunday to if that made it more doable? So far I don't have any one committed for the 29th. I'll run it with my wife, but it's nice having others along. Otherwise I may run up kennebec this Sunday and do the big loop next sun. Thoughts?

We were planning to leave to go camping for the weekend this morning. But looks like Bridger is sick. So not sure what we are doing at this point for the weekend. If he is better tomorrow we might just drive up to Telluride for the day.

Got soccer on the 28th, but maybe free on the 29th. There is also the WeRock Nationals going on in Cortez the same weekend.

So, looks like I can probably go and can bring my buddy in his 80 also.

How early you looking at leaving from Durango? We both have full crews and would bring the kids, just trying to figure the logistics.

Awesome, glad u can make it! Realistically I'd like to leave Bayfield by 8 at the latest. It's gonna be a big loop so it would be nice to not be in a rush. I was thinking we'd do lunch in creede. That gives us around 4 hrs to get there from bayfield which should be plenty, then from creede it's about 3 hrs (depending on stops) over stony into Silverton. We will likely spend the night in Silverton at a buddys place and get dinner there. If any of you want to get dinner great, if not that's fine to. It will be my wife and I and possibly a couple friends with us.

Looks like a great day. With the kids I need to feel them out for the all day affair.

I've grown accustomed to wheeling fast and then letting the kids play to keep the in cabin festivities sane. I'll keep in touch this week. I can see a 6:45am departure time from Farm as possibly problematic.

Well let me know whats reasonable for you guys? If we have to start a little later thats fine. Maybe 9 or so? I dont have kids yet so no biggy! I also dont mind makin time on the trail. We'll air down and cruise. Also if u guys dont want to do the all day event you could just do Elwood...

Yesterday at Silverton Mountain. I doubt anyone is going over Stoney Pass this weekend at this point. But check with the NFS.

Nice right! Everything west of 550 is closed for the season. Engineer, cinnamon, stony are temp. Closed and will reopen if the snow melts enough, according to Silverton chamber of comm. So yes we may be taking a detour, I think Elwood is still ok...

We're still in for a 9am start. What were you thinking the options were for return trip if everything east of 550 remains closed. Back on Elwood....fine by us. Weather is supposed to remain cool all week.

I'd like to check out the Summitville mining area, (near top of pass) there is a loop up there we can explore. If we end up coming back on Elwood, if Stony is closed we could do First Notch on the way back, which would bring us out at beaver meadows. Otherwise there's Devil Mountain and First Fork rd. I'm up for whatever. So if you had any other ideas please chime in!

Sounds good to me, lets hit it.

Where in Bayfield do we need to be?

Contact for me. 505-610-3722

I will be following Graham up there with the family. Looking forward to meeting you guys.

Sweet, we can meet at the Conoco @ 9AM in Bayfield Sunday. That's the one at the only stop light in Bayfield, on the RH side of Hwy 160. My cell # is 970-769-2407.
