Meet at the Grand View Stage Resort at 7:00pm Friday June 15th. We will camp at roughly 52 degrees 10' 32.5" N 115 degrees 23' 26" on the Friday night. Saturday we will hit the trail at 9:30 am. This trail is one of the toughest most technical trails I know of in the area. Roll overs have occurred in the past so spotting and proper driver technique is a must.

The Saturday night we will camp at roughly 52 degrees 7' 24.2" N 115 degrees 43' 20.8". We will hit up the trail that needs to be cleared and inspected for wash out damage at 9:30 am Sunday. Depending on how many down trees there are and how many hands we have will determine the time we get off the trail.

I hope everyone can bring a chain saw and a shovel for this run to get this trail back up and running for all to enjoy. Any further questions feel free to post up. This is an official club run so our rules apply.

Thanks,

John

right up

Well, I got a few minutes tonight so I thought I would do a little right up.

My son Adam and I loaded up the Bj-74 Friday night and headed down to Rocky to meet the gang. Met up with John and his Tacoma, and Jeremy in his Double cam RHD diesel Taco, Introductions were quick and then into the bush we went .

Set up camp and drove up to an old fire watch tower.

My son saw a squirrel.

The next morning we packed up camp and left for the trail head. It doesn't take long for the trail to get exciting. There are lots of off camber spots, tonnes of washouts, and crazy steep climbs and descents. The nerves definatly got a workout.

Decending down the hills at 40-45 degrees with washouts was something to remember. When the 74 popped out of gear and then my son jumped out of the truck, thats where I needed new underwear. In the last pic we figure the door that my son left open was holding the truck up.

Cam accross some deep washouts. Most were accomplished with good spotting and minimal damage.

Made camp by 4:30 and set up in a great spot on the Ram river. Had great weather all night. Woke up in the morning and met Kevin(Quaxy) in his BJ-74.

The Sombreros came out and we went to work. More great trail and a lot of trail repair. The creek had washed out the trail so we went to work finding eco friendly alternate routes and repairing what we could. Cleared a bunch of deadfall and just did general maintainance.

Canadian Bum Tacoma- blown front u-joint
Jeremt DC RHD Taco- rear wheel bearing
Quaxy RHD Bj-74- no power steering, mirror.

Power steering may have been from a previuos incident

Any ways great trip. Hard as hell and I would do it again in a minute.

Looks like you guys had fun! I'll have to make this one next year, hopefully in the 40.

Well it was a great run. We met at the Shell station in Rocky Mountain House and made the introductions. Jeremy in his Diesel Hilux and Dean in his BJ74. We headed out to the first nights camping spot and got set up for the night. Since we had some daylight left we decided to haul up baseline mountain to watch the sunset and assess the repairs that will take place later this summer.

After a night around the fire we woke up to head for the trail. It was as always a good challenging trail with non-stop technical wheeling. Everyone almost did a flop with Dean being the closest.

Dean had his truck almost over but the truck was saved by the passenger door holding it up, a very scary situation in itself, but luckily nothing happened and everyone was alright. After a quick recovery we were back on the trail making progress.

The next hill after an aggressive attack on the hill I had to reconnect my front driveshaft that separated in the attempt. The Taco made its way all the way to the top of the hill the hill is extremely steep and required winching for the other two trucks.

The trail had some pretty big and new washouts open up. But with careful driving, some guts, and some spotting we traversed them with out real issue.

After a few more hills and some more technical sections we came to the only section of mud on the trail and with careful navigation you can get through without issue. Jeremy unfortunately missed the line and got stuck. A quick tug and we were on our way.

We got off the trail in quite good time and headed down to the location of our camp for the night. We set up for the night and admired our visitors across the river.

We packed up and headed out the next morning for our next trail. We ran into Kevin (Quaxy) in his BJ74 just as we were heading out. And my truck suffered embarrassing breakage on the road that took it out for the day. My front left stub shaft decided to take a permanent vacation so I hopped in Kevin's truck for the day and the sunbraros were out. Due to all the logging in the area it was extremely tough to find the trail head but after almost giving up we had luck and found it.

The trail was in pretty bad shape. All the water has changed the trail a lot and we had some work to make it passable again but we managed to make it. There was a lot of water on the trail which made use of the snorkels in some spots.

It was a great weekend and I am looking forward to the next trip. Hope to see you all again soon.
