AFAIK Oakridge is private property but open for some large fee-based events - Jeep Jamboree goes there, and Mid-Atlantic Rover (MAR) event, plus some others. I don't think it's a place you can just go to and ride.

We should check out this area a lil more. There is still some wheeling in George Washington Nat'l Forest i hear and also a trip to Crozet would be fun !!

Allen aka FtKnox should know more, maybe he can chime in.

There were some nice trails on the western side of the valley out Rt 33 from Harrisonburg - Second Mtn, Dictum's Ridge, Kephardt, Old Long Run. We used to do the EC4RJ there, but last I heard most of them were closed.

Not sure if that is the area we used to refer to as "Shoe Creek" or not. If so, there was a bit of easy level wheeling on public land and some pretty fun stuff on private land. The last I heard they closed off the entrances to the private land, but I haven't been there in years.

As for the GWNF, there are still quite a few trails open there, pretty much all stock truck friendly. Dictum Ridge is still open, as are the "Loop" trails on the left side of 33. The last time I was there the gate was closed to go up Second Mtn., but I've heard conflicting reports about whether or not it's actually closed. I did hear that the trails past the ATV ramp and Old Long Run Road were closed. I'll be heading up there in a month for the Fall Colors Ride, so I'll know more then.

just thought I would drum up this old Thread about Oak Ridge in Nelson County Va as we think about potential spots for club trips. Prob would cost more $$ than other trips but might be worth it!.
