I went to visit some family, and squeeze in some wheelin' in WV this weekend. Saturday started off great, a few good climbs and some awesome scenery, then about 2 hours into the day we were going around a ridge and all of a sudden a man and a woman, both with no helmets come flying around this down hill blind corner on a 4wheeler (ATV) I stopped dead in my tracks about the same time as he saw me in the trail, he locks the ATV up and starts sliding toward me, then the ATV starts getting sideways and then all of a sudden flops over on its side real hard right in front of me. I jump out of the truck to see the man (driver) was fine and getting up and the woman (passenger) lying motionless about 2 feet in front of my truck. Had her head slammed into the ARB bumper instead of the ground it more than likely would have killed her. She woke up after a few moments of unconciousness and could move around but could not sit up, so we had to call in a ambulance up there, which took almost 2 hours, to take her to the hospital. It scared me to death, but I am very thankful it did not turn out worse than it did. I also saw them rescueing another ATV'er that day. After all that happened I really didnt feel like wheeling anymore, so I packed it in for the day. I went back out Sunday for a while and had a blast, it is literally a labyrinth of trails up there from mild to extremely wild.I didnt get alot of pics but there are a few.

was that an ORV?[/QUO

Well the whole state is pretty much an off road park, besides the coal mining industry, thats probably the states biggest source of income. You can ride a dirt bike or ATV on the roads there and the police will not say a word to you, there are some trails like the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system that are meant strictly for ORV's but there are literally thousands of old, and still in service gas and timber trails that go for miles on every mountain.

Awesome shots Steve. Looks / sounds like a great place!! Sorry to hear about the medical emergency, looks like it went as well as can be expected.

Yeah things could have went way worse, we were focusing on the womans condition so much right after it happened nobody realized that the ATV was still on its side and leaking gas like crazy.
