Does anyone know what the specs on the original wheel studs are i.e. length TP...etc? And, does anyone know where to get sets of longer ones (by about 1/4"), and what they should cost? I came across the OEM set of six on CCOT, something like $25/set??!! Seems to me that they shouldn't cost more than a couple of bucks each and so about $12/set?

I just ordered a set for my 80 series from CruiserDan. $3.80 each. The price you quote, does not seem out of line.

NAPA carries bunches of wheel studs for less than Toyota prices, but at least on 60's do not fit quite as well as the OEM ones. As for longer ones, there must be a source, but I don't know it. Why do you need longer ones?

Head to a good parts store, have them look up your wheel studs and then ask the counterman to use a BOOK to find a longer one. The back of the Motormight/Dorman book breaks down their wheel studs by size and you can use that to see if there is one that is longer then stock while still having the same diameter around the knurl at the bottom.

For the record I have used NAPA (Dorman) studs with no probs on my 60.

Well, I might need longer ones if I am to keep the 16" alloys that it came with when I bought it (FJ60). It's got wheel spacers and they make the wheel studs a weee bit short. Kinda scary! I like the way the wheels look and then again I hate to start messing with longer wheel studs and such... I was on a mad quest for stock chrome wheels but then realized my cruiser isn't going anywhere untill I do other things first so buying stock wheels is off of the priority list for now. Sooooo, that's why I was wondering about a possible cheeper alternative ie longer/safer wheel studs... Ya dig?

I cant remember, it was around $2 ea if I remember correctly. Maybe just a bit more. Its not somewhere you really want to be a cheapskate, but I have confidence in Dorman products (was a counterman and sold a ton of their stuff) which is what NAPA has in their box.

As an alternative you can check out All Pro Off Road or Marlin Crawler for wheel spacers. Real ones. Safe. That would move your alloy wheel out to the correct backspacing and solve your wheel stud issue. But they arent cheap.

Studs from NAPA are $2.89 each. As has been discussed, however, you may need a press to get them in, whereas the Toyota studs can be pounded in or pulled in with an impact wrench. Although, throwing the NAPA studs in the freezer for a few hours to shrink them down a bit and then pound/pull them in will also work.
