Wheel spacers... who has long term feedback?

Thinking about adding Spidertrax to my 07 V8 with 175k miles.

Who had been running them for a long time? Any bearing issues?

There was a contentious post in the GXOR fb group regarding spacers. It went back and forth for a while but the consensus was to stick with a quality manufacturer (I've heard most recommend Spidertrax hub-centric 1.25") and to ensure everything was properly torqued. Of course, with higher mileage I would think bearing wear is already there and adding a spacer or higher offset wheel, for that matter, will only increase it.

It's just a risk that we have to take as we modify our vehicles beyond what the manufacturer intended I think.

I have been running the spidertrax spacers for over a year with no issues.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with running a good quality wheel spacer. Running a spacer is no different than running a higher offset wheel.

Except that there is an additional bolted joint/mating surface and increased leverage on the original hub studs.

I know of quite a few 1 ton duallys running spacers and towing 20k plus so they just aren't something to worry about if they are of good quality. Use blue loctite and torque them to spec and call it good.

Hmmmmm I'm driving 4,000 miles to Alaska and can't decide if I want to install them before or after the trip.

The last thing I want is a bearing failure on the road. Original wheel bearings are rock solid tight and silent. **Knock on wood**

I've run them (Spidertrax) on several vehicles over the years with mixed success. That being said I never had any bearing issues whatsoever and I logged a lot of miles on two rigs with them.
On my GX there was a persistent wheel shake at around 50mph, I managed to minimize it but it just would not go away. Everything else checked out fine. Pulled the spacers and went with a set of FX Pros and haven't had a problem.

The mechanical leverage for a 1.25" spacer is the same as a 10mm high offset wheel. No difference. But some people run 2" spacers or more. So the feedback from those people may be different from those who run the 1.25". Bear that in mind. I had someone say "Spacers Suck" and then found out he was running 2" ones. Oh well.

Appreciate the feedback. Ended up getting a set of SCS Stealth 6's.

As an engineer, I didn't like the idea of spacers.
