wow, America's Tire was wayyy off when working out the offset vs backspace thing (shocker, the test rim wasn't even close). I was going off a 15x10 for the -44. That looks like barely not enough.

AT was quoting a -12 for a 15x8 which would likely hit the tie rod end. -25 looks more like the ticket. I'd bet you'll only find one from someone that builds custom rims, which is why I went with MRW.

The importance comes in when a wheel book gives only 1 or the other. When I was looking for something I never saw them both together.

I just put a set of American Racing Outlaw II look-alike rims on mine, 15X8 3.5 backspacing, "mag" type lugs (which require washers). The photo below is one of the set that I bought. I was told by SOR that for a 60-series, wheels have to be a bare minimum of 3 3/8 backspacing (without spacers).
I paid $150 via ebay (plus $65 shipping) and LOVE 'EM!

IF YOU BUY THEM, YOU'LL LOVE THEM (no I am not the seller nor do I know the seller).

got the 15x7s MRWs mounted and balanced.. on 33x10.5 AT/KOs. I think they look just right, like the unique D pattern they use. 3.25" backspace gave about 1/2" clearance and the spoke punchout is (just) clearing the IFS ribbed calipers

15x8" steelies, 2" custom backspacing, ordered through Summit, running 35x12.5" MT/Rs:

OP asked about offset. How much the wheel sticks out from the mounting point. 0 offset on a 8" wheel will be in the center of the wheel which should give you a 4.5" backspacing(approx). wheel width are measured bead to bead. An 8" wheel might be actually 9" wide, so that is why a 8" wheel with 0 offset will have a backspace of 4.5". Offset would be important to know if you want to keep the tire "tucked" in the wheel well while flexing.
I want aftermarket wheels and have searched on MUD. Most answers give backspace, but not offset. Most LC wheels(especially older) I see have some Dish to them suggesting an offset closer to 0 or even negative.
