well i found this 1999 lc with 185k miles, the guy says that his wife backed it into wall and the damage is from that, the overall condition of lc is very good with no leaks or any other problems. what do you guys think would cost to get this fixed? or even if its possible?

the quarter panel can easily be replaced. I hit a pole in reverse (less damage than that photo you have) and they replaced the panel anyway.

They cut the panel off halfway up the pillar, then unpicked the spot welds and put on the new panel. Replaced the rear bar as mine was worse than your picture. They totally ripped off the insurance co in my opinion but i had no choice in repairer at the time. Came to about $7k (AUD), but should have been half that or even less.

It would depend if the inner panels are damaged on that one and it's hard to tell from that picture, but quite often they can look worse than they are. If you can open and close the window and the tailgate opens and closes ok and the gaps between the tailgate and the pillars on both sides are ok then i'd probably say yeah, go for it. (edit: if you know a good shop that can do it, that helps too)

edit: added pic of mine

Did the owner not get an estimate to fix it? Why didn't he get it fixed himself? Maybe he doesn't want the insurance claim or the hassle of getting it fixed, but I'd want to know the answer to those questions.

your damage seems very small as compared to the one i posted... i will surely ask the seller if he got the estimate and one fellow member mentioned about the rear ac being there will definitely check on that tooo... youu guys are all very helpful, thanks for your iputs...

As someone mentioned above I'd ask why he hasn't gone through his insurance co. and on that check the details through carfax or that other co you use over there.

Yeah my damage was small but the cost was large which is why I posted!! An old school panel shop would have repaired mine without replacing the quarter panel but the shop i had to take it to was not old school.
Good luck with it!

Hard to tell by the pics and viewing on phone but it looks like the rear hatch, tailgate, and passenger rear door are also damaged? You could easily be looking at $15k+ there.

wowwww thats too much to fix, not worth a shot... i guess ill just pass on to this one then... does anyone in houston? i need their help in looking at couple of 100 series i am planning on buying.

How cheap is it? Could be a good candidate for a trail specific rig.

You will spend more in the long run than the rig is worth. That is why he is trying to unload it. I would only consider it if he were giving it away.

For the cost of the repairs plus the cost he is asking, you could probably get into a newer model with lower miles and not have to deal with repairs...

Run Forest Run!
Its possible that the seller has had an insurance payout and is trying to sell it to cash out of the vehicle. As Mxn said, a '99 with 185k is not worth anything like $6500 PLUS the cost of repairing that damage.
