I got my "new" FJ62. I have several small things to fix and I'm waiting for my shop manual. Meanwhile maybe you guys can help me out.
I noticed a little hissing sound (sssssssssssssss) coming from the engine compartment. I traced it to several little holes in the following piece of equipment.

I'm not sure if it is a vacuum related valve of sorts. What is it for?

Thanks so much.

looks like the backflow preventer for the smog pump / air rail

Right.. At the end of the hose that is a check valve.

I will do that. Thanks guys!

I had to replace mine shortly after purchasing my rig. I had a hole in the check valve that eventually led to that whole hose blowing out. go to sor and order the check valve and a new hose. Fairly cheap and easy fix.
