So I did a search but can't find the answer

the canadian site says the base model I just ordered comes with both VSC and traction control (trac), and upgraded models get active traction control (atrac).

so what's the difference between trac and atrac and does anyone know if they are switchable on/off

Atrac is switchable with the option of rear locker on board. The one I rode in last weekend had it all with the slush box. it worked great in the snow all day long. The switch was drivers right of the steering wheel under the radio and such. I believe it is a more advance version of Trac. It seems to work great, Bill only switched on the locker once during the day and that was to pull a couple of 40's out of the snow (one stuck, the other pulling but not enough weight so hooked the 40 and FJ together). The Auto box at 8k ft with the 4.0 engine did not have any problems with power, it is one going machine. later robbie

I'd agree with that, she was very quick...of course my view is slightly skewed as I drive/drove :( a 55 :D

I was impressed with how it went with just BFG A/T's on there. I don't think thats a factory option tho :(
