If it runs ok you would be safe at 3.5-4k. But it looks like you have the parts of a couple different jeeps.

its a J@@P.... 12 maybe 13 cents............

and being an expert...tell him to buy a real rig...

Sorry...had to..........:skull:

Jeep

IF it is rust free here in Georgia that is a 5K Jeep all day long but I'm not sure about prices where you are since you guys don't have as big of a rust problem as here in the southeast.

To give a better opinion I'd have to see more. If he can get it at 3500-4000 he's in REAL good shape in my opinion.

$3500. tops...CJ parts are getting scarce. The AMC 20 rear axle is a 2 pc. affair, and very prone to problems. The axle tubes are thin meaning that unless trussed will have problems; if already bent then will always have leaking seals and bad tire wear. The front Dana 30 is OK but have very tiny drum brakes. The frame is weak (unless fully boxed by a PO), especially at the steering gear where it is very prone to cracking resulting in wandering all over the road and of course worse. In short it will be a money pit. I'm not bashing them as I still have one (an 85), but I have replaced both axles, converted to a fuel-injected V-8, re-inforced the frame, etc, etc, and have well over $20K in it. That said, I recently purchased an 80 and am blown away at how much better a Toyota is built from the factory giving such a superior base to work from...just my $.02:)

LMFAO... You beat me to it.

I've owned CJ-7s for the last 20 years. I have always bought them stock and done moderate, but tasefull mods myself. They have their weak points but they are alot of fun. This thing looks like a huge pile, it has a parts on it from many different years and that lift looks deadly. If he wants a Jeep he should buy one that hasn't been F***ed with and save himself alot of money and heartache. FJ40's are cool as hell but im sure for that kind of money it will likely be a huge pile also.

Ditto mtrmud. That's a 5K Jeep in GA all day. It looks ok rust-wise, has hard top and doors and the lift can always be taken off. I personally think 35's are too big for a Jeep but that's me. He could probably sell the tires and wheels for enough to help with a smaller lift then sell the lift kit when he gets it off. I saw a 76 on CL yesterday that was John Deere green, looked like the rust was being held together by diamond plate, no hard top or doors for $3200. The guy had it sold before 11am. I guess I should start a biz buying CJ's out west for 2500-3500 and selling them here for 5-6K. Anybody got a 3-car hauler for sale? :-) And "parts from many different years"? Anybody on here got an all original FJ with no Frankenstein parts?

Jeep CJ Forum - JeepForum.com

I have a CJ8 Scrambler at the moment but have owned many CJ's and FJ40's. Can't beat Toyota quality but I love Jeeps too. He can get some great help and info on that site as you can Toyota info here.

BTW - that seems like a helluva deal to me just based on face value. Just my 2 cents worth.
