Not so sure a desert would be my first choice for an outing, but hey...

That is a serious piece of machine right there...I don't know if anything can top that. My :princess: drives an ML 500 with the 5.0 motor and it hauls ass. I could not imagine what a twin turbo 5.5 could do. Good job mercedes...plus there making them for cvilian use now. :grinpimp:

I've always wanted a G wagon. Best 4x4 there is.

My dad bought his G wagon brand new. It's been a real lemon. Transmission, turbo and intercooler all got replaced under warranty. A year after the warranty expired it needed another transmission. The turbo just gave out again. Dealer wanted $12,000 to fix the tranny. Now the thing just gets used for trips to the local grocery store because that's all it's good for, and it won't go over 40 MPH and now it takes three minutes to get up to that speed.

He wished he had never sold his Land Cruiser to buy it.

Wow, I've never heard such a poor appraisal for these. I'm not a fan of the newer ones, With all the electronics in it. But mid-80s to 90s are cool though. Every so often you can come across one that has a 300 D engine conversion in it.

Hmm... Speaking of engine conversions...
