What went right?
What went wrong?
What could we do better?
What should change?
What shouldn't change?

Let us know your constructive criticisms, good and bad. We'll try to keep this thread on-topic and aimed at making next year's event BETTER and the other topic for general discussion of the 07 events happenings.

ALL INPUT APPRECIATED!!! Thanks everyone.

You had mentioned that next year you would have a sign up for slots to go on different runs. This certainly makes sense for people to be spread out and not have the trails look like Boston at rush hour. My concern is that people who get blocked out of going next year due to limited capacity and people who forget to sign up will lose interest in YT.

Since we are so far ahead for next year maybe we can work on getting some additional trails in the local area. Granted some people will have to drive farther to hit the trail but it'll be better than the alternative.

Aside from that everything was great. No complaints on my end. There were some really nice 55's there......

great thoughts, thank you.

Having assigned runs and caps per runs is the only way we can handle this number or more people next year. Honestly, things were very precipitously balanced this year in the intermediate group and luckily we had a few members step up on trial to help Lane with the gargantuan groups he was leading (Nat Barross, Trail Team, and others, thanks guys!). Things could have easily gone bad, we got lucky, we need to be better prepared next year.

We were afraid when we made it pre-reg only that we'd alienate people yet we doubled our numbers. You never know how that can work out...it's a balancing act for sure.

We will ABSOLUTELY have more terrain mapped an ready to run next year. We will also have MORE trail leaders... and that's where volunteers come heavily into play.

Thanks John.

Everything about the event was right for me.

Blowing up my truck was just plain wrong.

Thanks everyone for all the hard work. I had a great time despite the carnage.

I guess I now know why it's called Carnage Hill.

We can get more trails to run, but if we don't have leaders and tail gunners it does no good.

I like the idea of caps on the # of rigs on the trails, it keeps things moving.

More people at the check-in tent to register wheelers.

Staging lanes need to be longer and marked at both ends.

PA System!

Starting times, next year if its 8:30 we are leaving!

Dumpster at the campground for the event.

I'm diggin the Staff T-shirt! Maybe we need to entice more volunteers by giving breaks on
event fees. (volunteer a day get that day free)

I didn't get to see the event as a whole, but what I did see it went great.
maybe a bit more specific on what vehicles for which trails. ie - people locked f/r 35s+ don't care about body damage not paired with people open front and good body.

I think everything was awesome! But would like to see smaller groups on trail runs. Too many rigs on runs especially hardcore trials slows things down.
Also a big screen with a projector or something to watch the days off road action. Could be pictures or video.

Yea, a little media show at night would be cool.
Any media types out there who want to volunteer?

One thing we'll do next year is have the Trail Team (assuming they come again) do their usual BBQ on Friday night, then do our own big hoedown on Saturday night. We now have the numbers to support this. This makes one less meal for everyone to bring and people coming in Friday night get hot food. The Trail Team feeds for free which is why the BBQ has been much cheaper the last few years as we only had to cover the YT side of the catering. members will have to pay a bit more for the Sat. night YT BBQ but they'll get a second meal for nothing Friday night so it will work out nicely.

I'd love to convince Stew Lavassur to cook again. He did the meal at Lake Massasecum and it was pretty amazing.

Have them announce about the FJ Cruiser driver sign ups. I had no idea we could have driven those things until it was too late.

Great idea and one Lane and I discussed with the Trail Team as well. We will actually have the signup sheet at the check in table so people can sign up and ride or drive any time during the weekend.

My family and I had a great time, and it was nice meeting a lot of you.

One thing we were unsure of was when the trail runs would start on Saturday, not having been there Friday night. I checked and double-checked the web sites and registration forms, but couldn't find any times listed... so we got up really early and got there around 8:30, figuring you wouldn't head out before then.

Thanks to Dave and everyone who played a role in a great weekend!

Probably a small detail, but it would be great if the film crew showed up on time next year... ;)

Not that YT had anything to do with that. :D

Yeah, that sucked, but as you said, completely out of our control. It was compounded by NEEDING the trail team to help lead that Intermediate run. With more trail leaders next year we won't be forced into waiting like that.

I can probably handle getting the projector and screen. The people with the cameras would need to make sure they have cables with them.

There may be other campgrounds with more frills (like water :D), but I personally was really happy to be back at the good ol' Field -N- Forest.

Loved having the trails right next to the campground this year as well.

Rather than capping the total amount on the trail, perhaps send out staggered groups? Maybe an early AM group going out promptly at 8 or 8:30 am, then a group of slugs like myself that like to sleep in a bit later and enjoy a leisurely breakfast and coffee (or nine), leaving at 10ish.

Overall, great time, probably my favorite one so far...

Thanks to the excellent spotting and patience of Mike, John, Mark, and David I even managed to make it through my first time ever with nary a scratch on the old rust bucket.

Ideally what we would like to see next year is enough leaders and trails so
we can run smaller groups. Smaller groups move faster and have more fun.
Capping the trails also gives people the incentive to register early allowing the organizers
more time to get our s*** together.
Property which might be available next year could give us the option of
3 Hardcore locations
4 Intermediate
The usual stock runs plus another 1800 acres of land for stockers to explore. (Trail work must be done for this)
With some good volunteer work we could have everyone run a different trail each day.

We tried this, and it didnt work so well because of 2 reasons.
1. the area in the back is somewhat small, running one group 'backwards' from the other worked relitivly well though
2. Its hard to tell how fast people move through a trail, for instance the guys with the 'waggons' (gotham cruzers) took alot more care than me and my group and went alot slower. Defenitly not anything wrong with that, just difrent.
