what transfercase will fit in a fj80 with out swaping out the axil of the fj80? I am planning to swap out a land cruiser motor and transmission to a 4bt cummins and with out having problems later I am going to go a head an put in the automatic that comes with the 4bt cummins. I am wanting better mileage and I want to be able to sweitch in and out out 4 wheel drive and also the mileage to the tires . I would like to try keep it looking like a sleeper. I would like any ideas

When I had my 4bt80, it had a 60 split case on it. It was a Proffitts rig and thats how they did all of them AFAIK. I do have some if you decide to go down that path.

I think you'll get far more input in you post in the main board....in the 80 section or the hardcore section....but your first consideration is a transfer case that will mate with the transmission you plan to use behind the cummins. I'm not a dodge person...but I recall people mentioning a 300 series transfer-case from a dodge was a good option (I may not have the right reference number..)...

Then the 2nd consideration is what if any adapters are out there to run a toyata split case transfercase (like from a FJ60)...go check out the advance adapter web site.

Of course you'll need to align your outputs of the transfer case with the front and rear axle (what options that work with that).

Was the auto for the 4bt. Out of a 4x4? If not, you are looking at changing out the tail of your tranny, or using an adapter, or going to a divorced t-case. Maybe even a combo. of that. Advance Adapters is a good place to start your research. New Process is owned by Chrysler Corporation. Many of the same model t-cases can be used as long as the out put matches the front axle, drivers side or passenger side drop. So, if your auto tranny is turbo 400, and you need a passenger side drop, you could use a Chevy or Dodge 205 or 208 as an example.
