Well I wanted to post this up, I have a ladder with rotopax carrier and love it but don't run it unless I need it. I found it painful to have to open both swing outs to open the rear hatch. So I have been wanting to move some of my recovery gear to a place that would be easy to grab. It seems every time I get in a spot that I need some assistance my rear is deep in mud or I am almost upright. This makes it hard to run around to the back and open everything up and get anything. Thank goodness I have always been with folks that also had gear. So I had some ammunition boxes for a few years and had a friend from Expo weld me a plate on the bottom and bamm. For $20 bucks , now I have lockable rear storage on the second arm.

Once bolted on the box is solid as a rock !! now I have more places for stickers.... :wrench:

That is a good question which your not the first to ask. I guess my recovery gear is small or something. I can fit the following items in there.

1 - 20,000 lb snatch block
1- 6 foot tree trap
1 - 20,000 lb+ strap 20 foot
2 - D shackles

That's about what will fit. Am I missing something that should be needed in a quick recovery ?

nicely done sir!

Great idea. In general, it would be nice to see more options for a the driver's side carrier that could be allow for opening of the top hatch without having to open both sides of the carrier (this has been the reason I don't have a carrier on driver's side--heck, I barely use my trunk anymore at all given what pain it is to just open the passenger side tire carrier every time!)

Great idea Steve! I ran across this when I was looking into the same issue. I kind of like the stealthy aspect of it as it keeps people from wondering what kind of goodies you've got stashed in there. I guess you would just mount a jerry can holder on your 2nd swing-out and then lock this in.
