OK in theory I might be getting a FJ62 , 1989 variety what do I need to do to fit 33's ?

Stock springs, about 1in shackles, 1in body lift and they barely clear on the front with the wheel turned all the way and the front end full flexed. But they do clear :D 33X12.50 on 15X8

I am in need of a tire upgrade too, but I have two questions.

1. Will 33x12.50 tires fit on the stock 15" wheels?
2. If I get extended shackles at the same time (I'm on stock suspension, and planning to upgrade within a year) what should I get specifically, and where?

search the threads, 12.5 is probably too wide for stock suspension if your going off road.

Mine are33x9.5/15

imop 12.5 is too wide for the stock rims. Probably will work okay if you clear them from the fender wells. But stock they would probably rub if hard over and flexed.

I'm running 33's and I wouldn't stuff them under a stock, tired suspension personally, but depending on how much (and how hard) you plan on wheeling, you can't go wrong with a dakar lift with an additional 1.5" over shackel just to be safe (and never worry about rubbing).

I ran 33 x 13.50 with just extended shackles and 1/4 inch wheel spacers up front. Only rubbing was one tire with the lugs on the exhaust a little. I went to Paragon too, so I don't want to hear "would rub offroad". Definately full articulation. It didn't even rub with full turning either. The shackles were 7 and 7 1/2 inches long and rims were 10 or 12 inch wide, not sure. This setup kicked ass, when aired down I could drag the heavy pig over pretty much anything I could clear. If not just pile up some rocks like a little step to get you over.

I'm currently on 33x11.5" tires mounted on Tacoma rims, using a 1" spacer behind them. No rub at lock. No flex rub so far either. I've not maxed out the flex yet though.

33's are the only way to go.

gone

seems this thread was a worthless one , the 62 deal fell through and from what I am hearing that is a very good thing ...

What kind of tires are these? I always thought 33x11.5 would be a good size but didn't think many companies were making them yet.

Officially- they are 285-75/r16's. It works out to be 33x11.5's. And yes, IMOP they are the perfect size for a DD/WW (weekend warrior) rig.

The only problem was I had to upgrade to 16" wheels, which really wasn't a problem for me... I like the aluminum mag wheels better than the chromed steelies that came stock anyway.

Why??? I love the 62's. Or was this one just a pos?

The impression I have is that upon closer examination and checking into the seller a little, Rick decided to give that particular rig a wide berth. He's still looking.

Mark...

You should get a 60 or 62 for sure. I run 33x9.5x15s (stock rims). They have yet to rub off road, although my suspension still sits at the factory height amazingly.

Granted, I don't "push" it off road at all. I use it mainly for hunting in the Hill Country. Does great and works great for what I need though......
