We'll be heading up to Kitty Hawk tomorrow with my family and meeting my parents up there for a week. I've read some old posts while researching and was wondering if there was any new info that would be helpful to have a great time! I saw that a 7 day off road pass was $50. Any inside info on beach driving or just grab a map from the ranger station? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys and hopefully I'll get to see everyone at Logan's Run this year!!

If you're going to Kitty Hawk, forgo going to Cape Hatteras to drive, drive up to Corolla/Carova and drive for free as far as you can (Va. Line). Don't be afraid to wander over the dunes (legal crossovers though!) and make your way back towards the sound side. You'll most likely see some of the wild horses... Climb Currituck Light, Jockey's Ridge, the Wright Brother's Memorial, swim of course!

Yeah I dont think there is any beach driving in Kitty Hawk during the summer. They are too narrow and no fun anyway. They open that particular area for free in the winter. I think the pass is for all the beaches down south which is too long a treck to make that really worth it.

x2 on just going up to Corolla and riding the beaches. all Free and a good bit of fun. You can go back and explore the "roads" around and past the rental houses.

You can go hood deep in the water holes too if you like.

Rode on the beach today at Corolla/ carova and saw the wild horses and pulled out a stuck 2wd escape in the rain! It was beautiful and a lot of fun! Thanks for the tips!
