What motor oil do you use?

Say what?

But you CAN argue when I'm only 330k on the same oil I've been using since the truck's very first oil change in 1997? Whatever fits the narrative I suppose. :meh:

Up until now she got the regular shell 10-30. But now I've got some Rotella T6 5-40 ready to go in.

Mobil 1 15w-50 I would go for 20w-50 but it's hard to find it at our local walmart

Costco special...Chevron Supreme 10w-30 for the last 120K miles. LOF @ 5-6K intervals.

I would think that you would want the lower, or "W" number would to be relatively low like 5 or 10. That should be the start up viscosity and i would want it nice and thin to circulate quickly. Especially when it is cold out and the engine is cold and loose. I remember reading some place that by far the majority of engine wear happens at start up. My gauge reads a little low but even at startup with 10-30 i have nice high oil pressure until the oil warms up. Then it is a little lower than i like. So i would thing nice and thin at startup and thicker while running and hot would be perfect if possible.

I've been using Mobil 1 10W-30 since I got my 94 FJ-80 at 14,000 miles. Still have good compression at 393,000. I'll change the oil every 10 to 15K. Not changing the brand it's worked so far. At this point it's the small things that are starting to show their age.

Truck driver's have told me that Mobil 1 is the best.

Thats why lots of us around here are running the Mobile 1 15/50. It rarely gets down to freezing here, but it gets over 110 pretty often in the summer. John

15w-40 Delvac conventional diesel

delvac is an excellent engine oil. I am planning on going back to it next oil change this coming spring :) I change every 10k or every spring. Judging by my current driving habits it will be Spring.

$11 bucks a gallon at Wally World
No way! lol I buy in bulk and by the quart for my applications its best but under $4 dollars a quart that may have to change.

You got 2 Lives out of your $50K truck!
If you got a unrealistic 15mpg then you have bought 26,200 gallons of gas (At $3 gallon) thats $78,600!
If I had a truck that long I would likely never part with it; it's a family member!

Mobil 1 5W-30 Here

Rafael,

What Tires are you running?

Are you going to change your head-gasket before it fails?

What Lift do you recommend?

Sorry I have so many questions?
