Sup fellas,

Wanted to share that I bought some overkill daily driving tires. Besides, I'm hoping to be a little more active with some newbie friendly trails this summer. Not looking to transform my panels into a urban assault rhino lined rig any time soon, in fact probably not at all (no offense).

Onto the tires, went with Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx 285/75/16. So far they're good but, well see if the quietness goes away after breaking in the rubber around the 250mile mark.

Now I need to source some zero lift OME springs. Hope everyone is doing good so far this year too!

Very nice.

Nice! Been looking at those tires for a while.

I look forward to your thoughts on them over the next few thousand miles.

Thanks Will and Mike,

Uncertain the value I'll have in feedback. These are my first set of AT's albeit aggressive/hybrid tread pattern. I did drive a Tahoe with some BFG MT's; in that short stint it felt like driving on a subtle cobble stone driveway around town. FWIW, the Coopers haven't behaved in that same manner compared to that experience. As mentioned in the first post, I'm curious after the new rubber breaks in and see is there is a difference in noise, tracking and wear.

I'll report for sure in two months given the mileage I've piled on as a daily driver since November (acting as a chauffeur for my wife and my daughter's school). Doing about 70 miles a day. Wife's TSX was smashed and totaled.... so been reorganizing the other two cars for daily use.

Until then, here are a few shots:

Still rawking the banged up running board ;)

Way nicer than the other tires. Looks good.

LOL, it is Dain. BTW, how do your KM2's behave on the freeway? Do they sing a low hum?

These have a progressive low to med/high pitch from 50-60 respectfully. They stop their crescendo around 65ish.... nothing to complain about given the tread pattern. Wife didn't noticed until I mentioned it.

Some wet weather info;
We had some heavy rain and they performed above average IMO. Lots of standing water and was able to maintain great control while changing lanes*. No hydroplaning until the speed increased above the flow of traffic. I was able to maintain my speed around 60ish when there was standing and heavy rains occurring. Slower speeds yielded better control but YMMV.

(* The HWY section I'm referring to is south of 277st exit to about HWY 18 in the southbound middle lane HWY167. The middle lane is groved out from the amount of semi's traveling it. Its almost a small gutter. )

Yah it's me, but I never ran KM2s. I only ran GOODYEAR MTRs and COOPER SST. I always have my music loud, so I can't tell you on the road noise.

I'm currently running Toyo all terrains and will be changing to BFG A/T 285/70R17s. I'm running 285 TOYOS and got a brand new 285 BFG A/T in a OEM 17" rim as a spare. Just going to run that brand until I need tires again.

Ah yes, MTR's..... I've confused someone's tires with your rig. Music is always on too for me only the kids have something to say. I can't completely tune them out ;).

I think William had KM2s on the LX450

A little late to update, but did a 5 tire rotation @ the 4200 mile mark back in late April/May (can't remember). Tires were originally set at 40lbs psi and rode well with a slight harmonic hum. They registered in at 19/32 of tread when they were rotated.

The guys at Discount lowered the pressure to 32lbs and it rides a little smoother with less hum. Wearing extremely well for mix HWY/Street use, so I give it the pot hole warrior approval badge! The one other difference I've noticed is the cornering is a little less responsive but is welcomed at HWY speeds. The 40lbs was cutting the lanes and or grabbing the groves more. With the less pressure, it's more forgiving when changing lanes. Lower speeds I haven't noticed a difference, even in acceleration. My average fuel mileage has stayed the same.

Next rotation, I'll report the wear again to see if it stays consistent or increases from the lowered pressure. I know from other folks that some brand(s) of AT/LT tires have different rubber compounds around the 40-60% thread wear and the feel, sound and handling change once reaching that compound (warranted for x-amount of mileage).
Because these are not warranted by mileage, hoping that the rubber is consistent throughout and retain their current characteristics.

Hope everyone is enjoying their year, and this weather of late.
/JJ
