OP, jemsec has the correct answer. There have been many threads, and even a sticky in the FAQs, I think, about this "device", which is why Mike broke out the popcorn. It's a running joke here about overly asked questions, like tire sizes and oil brands, and interference engines...

Just google "little thingy hanging down' and you'll see what I mean.
