what is this part? and nose to nose pic of wifes lx to my LC

ok this little termination? or whatever it is is in the wire harness on each side of the intake manifold... is it important? does it do anything? just curious found them as i was getting the coil pack terminals/connectors off a scrap harness

and i had to post the black & white pic
