What is this ooze?

So I was just degreasing my engine, when I noticed this seepage. As soon as I'd rinse, it would ooze again, rather quickly. Seems to dry clear.

What is it, and should I worry?

hard to tell, but are you possibly leaking brake fluid?

Only 3 fluids have any earthly business in that part of a 62's engine compartment. Oil, fuel, and Brake fluid. If it were fuel you should smell it quite easily so it is most likely oil or brake fluid. I'd check your MC for leaks.

As far as I know, I'm not leaking brake fluid. But i guess I could be.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about that white stuff, not the burnt black stuff above it.

Maybe it's something that would react to the degreaser?

Though if the black should be a concern, I'd wanna know too! :c )

Are you sure that it is oozing and it's not just that the manifold is hot and drys quickly, exposing the white again? Kinda what it looks like to me, but then I am not there.

If it is oozing, i'd say it is coolant coming from the head or manifold (do they run coolant through the manifold?). If so could be a head gasket or gasket between head and manifold.

It's white when it's wet. But when it dries, it kinda disappears. Maybe the water I was spraying on was reacting with the oil that's on the surface or something?

Hmm ... head gasket. That's a possibility.

Ack, I dunno! I'll have to see if it's on the invoice from my last oil change.
