What is this button next to my shift lever

I've looked in the factory manual and my LX does not have it I'm sure it's a stupid question but .....?

So you can shift out of Park when your battery is dead... There's usually a cover on it.

Shift lock. Good for rolling a dead car or car with no key.

 

[Kigiin]

Invaluable when your ignition rod/lock thing breaks. But it's not a button.
