what is the process of using a steel ball to close (1 Viewer)

wanted to know the name for using a ball pressed into a hole to seal it off. like in a carb of an automatic trans?

I have no idea but I’m curious so I’ll watch along. Is this a permanent press in or more like a check valve where it’s spring loaded and allows fluid/air through in one direction but closes in the other? I get the feeling this part of the forum isn’t visited frequently.
