Was enjoying the weather outside at the park, and three of us (two adults and a child) was sitting on the tailgate, about 350 lbs total. Just want to make sure we are not going to do any permanent damage since I can see we will be sitting on the tailgate often in the summer.

I searched, but did not see any mentioned of this.

Thanks
Chris

Not sure the max load, but I have had myself and a rather large buddy standing on it. It was a good 450-500lbs and we did not have an issue.

I believe the JDM sticker is tongue weight capacity, not anything to do with the tailgate.

350lb, evenly distributed, should be no problem but the two cables often get rusted an unnoticed inside the plastic tubing. After replacing mine, I've made a cut in the plastic at the low point of the loop to help with drainage and it has been fine for 5+ years.

@hoser - I just replaced one of the cable. It was broken due to rust. Good idea about a cut in the plastic that cover the cable, will do that.

Thanks
Chris

Should hold two adults, a grandson and an 80 lb. lab. Wouldn't go much further than that.

It has been field tested with three 200 lb. + drunk guys sitting on it, bouncing down a rough road. It bent. Luckily it wasn't my rig....

I've done the same test with a static load, didn't bend the gate, but pressed the rock on my bumper nicely into the body.
