In the garage.
In the description for this forum it states 60, 61 & 62 series wagons. What is a 61? I can't recall ever seeing or hearing of one. Anyone know?

I was thinking mine would kinda be a 61 when I put the auto trans in my 60. Is there a real 61 series LandCruiser?

FJ61 does not exist. HJ61's are usually top of the line diesel cruisers with all the awesome features the US did not get.

Then when my swap is done I will be safe to say it is an fj61.

Thanks for the info. Wish we could get some of that really cool stuff in the states

What will your swap consist of just a diesel engine swap what size of engine 3b 2h or 12ht.
What body and frame 60 or 62.... 61s have the raised roof as well as the hj60 were the bj and fj have the flat roof.

well blokes, i have a hj61 aust delivery and it has the flat roof but most importantly it has the factory diesel turbo (12ht) and the five speed, full floating rear end, rectangle rear vision mirrors (the ones that you can actually see out of) It's a 1986 hj61 rg, the one with round headlights and i gotta say i love it! Mine runs front and rear arb lockers and 35 bfg's muddies with the O.M.E lift and a 2" body lift, that 12ht is a ball tearer, if you can spare the cash, get one, but make sure it's a good one as the cost a fortune to rebuild, anyway that's my 2 cents worth!

 Awesome. That's the truck I think most 60 owners wish they had, so have fun for us!!!

No diesel (I wish) just swapping in an auto trans & a few other 62 goodies into my 60

What model is a high roof fj 6x being with round headlights and what would it be with square if they were avl?

FJs don't have the high roof that I have seen, round and sqaure lights was the 87-88 transition they still remained FJ being gas or HJ being diesel.
The flat top HJ61 that PLUMMA has is rare I wished I could get my hands on one I love the flat roof look it is much sleeker than the raised roof.
Better yet I wished I could get a flat roof ambi door with the 12ht and cable locks with a 5spd

Would the change from fj60 to fj62 be in 85 when they changed from the 2f to 3f ??? Aus never had the fj6x series with the 3fe

Yes? The rest of the world got the H55 in 85 as well, also the same year as the 70 was introduced.

Nope, in '88, at least in the states (build dates starting in 8 or 9/87. The 3FE seems like a NA issue engine. fuel injection was a great upgrade, but the emissions controls built into the 3FE were not required in other markets, so they got the 3F instead.

LandCruiser history is fascinating, even just the J6...

This is a great source of reliable info (but they do not include the H41 or A440 or the other auto tranny, I forget what it was called):

That reference is wrong in stating that the FJ62 with either the 3F or 3FE had the H151F. The H151 was mated to Z series engines ( FZ, HZ, HD, etc. )

It also says that the HJ60 got the H55 in 1983. I thought it didn't come out until '85??

Yea x2 that reference on the h151 ,this box in Aus came in 1990 behind the turbo 80 series and oct/nov 1992 up when the 80's,and 75 troopy and utes changed from fjs to fzj's with the 1 FZ-FE
Thats cool how your 62's had 3fe injection two of my mates had 80 series with the carb 3f

Here is a pic of our HJ61. This is an 88 so it has the 2 square lights grill.
