This thread is a result of all the pet loss that seems to be going on lately. Great thanks go out to those that shared their loss with us. It's been a polite and powerful reminder of things that matter and that time is precious.

So what lessons did your dogs manage to teach you?

Gabby has shown me there can never be too many ping pong balls in the world. Shep has reminded me furniture and shoes are seriously overrated items and that we're silly for not enjoying a good chew now and then.
Together they are teaching me I need more play time in my life.

Rest and take life easy - just do not get stressed - always take time to love the one your with early in the morning - problem is - it is always Hoss!

Forgiveness, you can spank a dog but in the end it will still love you.
Dogs bark because they want attention or are scared. If they really wanted to attack you they would attack like lion-slow and stealthy like any other true predator.
I heard that dogs could sniff cancer and precious minerals.

what true loyalty is. Try putting a shock collar on your wife or girlfriend and see if they still love you. :flipoff2:

I learned that I wish I could be half the person my dog thought I was.

Damn, I miss that dog sometimes.

never underestimate how cool a ride in a cruiser can be!!!

dakota gets excited just driving from one end of the driveway to the other...and i dont' have a long driveway!!

That no matter how s***ty your day has been there is always one person who loves you and is happy to see you. :D

Damn I miss that dog. :frown:

They live each day/moment with vigor and love of life. Whether it is sleeping, raiding the garbage can or chasing squirrels they are fully committed to it. They do not lie or deceive. I wish I was half the person my dog was. I miss her.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Passed people comforting a dog that looked like it had just been hit by a car last night. Had to hug my two guys when I got home. :(

my dog lies and decieves

he know's he's faster than me

so he lies on the ground wimpering till i rush over to make sure he's ok... then he bolts inside throught the door i leave open in my haste, and curls up on the sofa

bastard... but it makes me smile

my first dog taught me love and loyalty aren't forever, but when showing those things, show them 100%. also taught me that loyalty and protective instincts can overcome any size mismatch in a fight

You obviously have never owned a terrier mix. I had one, and she was one lying bitch! :D Sometimes I felt like her pimp. :grinpimp: But she had a rough childhood before we got her. She still was a great dog. :) Until she became a chicken killer.

My dogs taught me that, no matter how bad your day has been, a little companionship will make it all go away. Works with kids, too. :)

hey i was defending the smoking woman my dog does smoke, when he's on fire

labradore husky mix.. too stupid to be useful, too smart for his own good, too much energy, to lazy to do anything about it

he's conflicted.

he's over a year old now, still has his nuts, and hasn't done anything that dogs with nuts are supposed to...
