Decided to wash the truck this morning.

When I was cleaning out the interior I noticed Hula Girl was losing her skirt and looked a bit soiled. I figured since the double sided tape that held her to the dash was failing I would do a little resto-mod on her. Was even thinking of doing a build thread, just incase someone else ran into the same problem.

Well, I shot that idea in the ass pretty quickly. After I got her off, I carefully removed her grass skirt, got some warm water and soap and sudsed her up, careful to get all the hard to reach areas. I flipped her over to get the back end….

and dropped her.

I thought I was going to have sign up to a questionable website to see the rest of this post...

Oil change. Drained out the Valvoline Restore and Protect that I just had to try when I saw it on utube. It was supposed to clean my engine from the inside or something, I forget exactly. I did not like that the thickest I could get was a 5w-30. I had never run anything less than a straight 30w. Just the way I was raised. Fortunately, my engine seemed to tolerate it just fine. Maybe better. On really cold starts the oil pressure was in the low to mid 60s instead of the mid 70s and pushing the oil pressure relief valve but stayed in 20s in a low hot idle which I cannot complain about with 22 years on the low end rebuild.
My eyeball analysis as I drained it was "that doesn't look too bad". Dark but not black could sorta see through it at the edges. 10 months old, maybe 3k miles, but it did do the Rubithon, so there's that.
Did it restore my engine? I do not know, seems about the same. It did teach me that I don't need to be afraid of thinner oils and maybe I should be running a thinner oil.

Oil change part 2:
I used up some old, leftover oil to fill my crankcase. Stuff you can barely read the label and don't know it's "sell-by" date. Gotta rotate the stock and I probably don't need to carry 6 quarts. Hopefully.

I wonder if anyone runs 5w-30 long term in their F engine? The last time I used 10w-40 or 30…don’t recall, but my otter vehicles use 5w-30 and using the same oil across the board would be nice….already use the same coolant on everything.

I bet I could. I did 10 months no problem. I have not yet had a any worry about oil pressure and I pay attention to it usually.
