Does your model year have the bullet shaped electric actuator on the side of the carb? mine on my '79 was running like that and that device had a wiring issue.Warm weather means getting out more in the 40.
I still need some help dialing in the carb…holding the gas pedal and clutch (and brake) at the same time while stopped to keep it going isn’t always super easy…..drives no problem but when stopping or at a complete stop it will diesel and die unless giving it gas.

Messed around getting the rear end, fitted in properly and decided to get my “exhaust system” mocked up

The gussets behind the rear crossmember most likely wont handle the load. With the receiver below the crossmember, the leverage will bend or twist it up from the bottom and out slightly. No doubt, you made it stronger. Just be careful what you hook on to.

FJ40Dash is a great replacement if you don’t need to be 100% OEM.Decided to pull off the warped dash cap today. Apparently... you're supposed to have a dash to attach it to.... So it looks like I'm getting a new dash padView attachment 4104359
Thanks for the info. I ordered an OEM from City Racer... I didn't like the idea of the logo so I stuck with an original. This FJ 40 stays in the insulated shop unless I'm out driving in good weather. Not to concerned about cracking from the heat. Right now.... just waiting for good weather.FJ40Dash is a great replacement if you don’t need to be 100% OEM.
Also… get the OEM while it’s still available. Crazy how much more $$ that piece is now than just a few years ago. Thanks for the info. I ordered an OEM from City Racer...
